ESG (Environment, social and governance)
At OXB, our commitment to responsible, sustainable and ethical practices ensures high-quality, safe and innovative therapies. Guided by our core values - responsible, responsive, resilient and respectful - we aim to protect the planet and support communities while delivering value to our clients and patients.
Our ESG strategy: Aligning business with purpose
We focus on three priorities that matter most to our stakeholders: Environment (E), Social (S) and Governance (G). This approach ensures our business practices support your goals, maintain product quality and reduce environmental and social risks.
Environment: Driving sustainable innovation
We design and operate facilities to minimise environmental impact while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards. Our Environmental Management System, informed by the principles of ISO 14001, ensures every step in production considers sustainability, from energy use to waste and water management.
- 42% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2030: Achieved 6.32% reduction in 2025 (cumulative 39.7% since 2021 baseline).
- 100% renewable electricity by 2030: Expanded procurement of Energy Attribute Certificates (EAC's), resulting in 52% renewable electricity sourcing by the end of 2025 and explored on-site renewable energy generation.
- Supplier engagement on SBTs: Engagement with suppliers responsible for 90% of purchased goods and services emissions to establish SBT aligned targets. As of 2025, 43% of emissions are covered by suppliers with approved SBTs, with an additional 27% committed to setting targets.

We are reducing carbon emissions through energy efficiency measures and renewable electricity across our sites. Our near-term decarbonisation targets were verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in April 2025. Deep decarbonisation is underway, guided by our transition plan, and we are engaging with suppliers to drive emissions reductions across our value chain.

Social responsibility overview
OXB fosters a diverse, inclusive and equitable environment where employees feel valued and empowered. We engage with communities and suppliers to create mutual value and economic opportunities.
People and patients
At OXB, we prioritise ethical and socially responsible cell and gene therapies. Our Global Technical and Innovation Committee ensures viral vectors are produced sustainably while patient and client stories shared internally highlight the real-world impact of our work and inspire our employees.
Employees and EDI
We provide an inclusive workplace with mandatory EDI training, harassment prevention and policies supporting equality, neurodiversity, menopause and LGBTQIA+ inclusion across UK, US and France sites.
Health and safety
Site-level H&S objectives are monitored including training compliance and Lost Time Injury Rate. Internal audits provide assurance on safety procedures.
Community engagement and volunteering
Employees can request volunteer days for initiatives such as Habitat for Humanity, food banks, school events, environmental conservation projects and more.
Responsible supply chain
We are committed to ensuring responsible business practices across our supply chain. We believe that business and society are best served when companies adopt ethical practices that prioritize sustainability, quality and people. Read more in the Supplier Code of Conduct.
Governance: Ensuring transparency and accountability
Framework
Strong governance underpins our ESG commitments. In 2024, we transitioned from a five-pillar model to three priorities: Environment, Social and Governance, for clearer alignment and risk management.

The ESGR Committee integrates environmental, social, governance and risk oversight to ensure accountability.
